Hansons Boat Removal blog: real talk, real answers

What this blog is actually about

This blog is where I put down what I've learned over two decades of pulling boats out of places they had no business being. Not marketing copy. Not generic advice you could find anywhere. Actual situations we've dealt with, problems we've solved, and things I wish more boat owners knew before they ended up in a mess.

Some of what I write about comes straight from jobs we just finished. A sunken aluminum fishing boat in a backyard pond in Georgia. A 36-foot sailboat left to rot at a dock in Oregon after the owner passed away and the family had no idea what to do with it. A marina manager in the Carolinas who'd been trying to get a derelict vessel removed for eight months before he called us. Those are the kinds of stories you'll find here, and there's always something worth knowing in each one.

I also use this blog to break down the stuff that trips people up. Title issues. What happens when there's no HIN on the hull. Why some states make you jump through hoops to dispose of a boat legally and what you can do about it. Environmental rules around fuel and fluid removal that most people don't think about until a regulator is standing in their driveway. If you're dealing with any of this, there's a good chance I've already written something that'll help.

  • Removal jobs from around the country, with real details on what made each one tricky
  • State-by-state title and disposal quirks we run into regularly
  • Advice for marina operators, estate executors, and homeowners who've inherited someone else's problem

I don't post just to post. When something goes up here, it's because it's worth your time. Check back when you've got a question, or just want to know what this work actually looks like from the inside.
