Sunken Boat Removal in Southport, NC

A storm surge did in one afternoon what years of neglect hadn't managed. The 21 ft Glastron had been tied off behind the house for a while already, motor not running, when the water came up higher than anyone expected and pushed it off its lines into the marsh grass along the bank. By the time the owner called, the hull had settled at an angle in soft mud that swallowed a boot to the ankle. Our trailer couldn't get within fifty feet without sinking too, so we ran a cable out from the truck on the hard ground above the bank and winched it up through the mud in stages, resetting the anchor point twice. Took most of a morning working around the tide, but it came out in one piece and left the bank clear.
