A Round Lake Beach household treats the fall move as a fixed date, when a sailboat comes off its lift and heads for storage before ice sets in, then reverses every spring to get back on the water. A second household nearby handles the same seasonal round trip with a runabout, the storage lot too far to tow it themselves twice a year without losing a weekend both times.
My crew handles the boat hauling with our own truck and trailer, load it and deliver door to door for the season move. Oversize paperwork is ours before the wheels turn. A boat bought without its paperwork sorted can still be moved. Details on the Illinois boat transport page.
