Cary, NC: 23 ft Hunter Gone in One Morning

A 23 ft Hunter 23.5 had been sitting on its original trailer in a Cary driveway for two winters. The water ballast tank had cracked during the freeze, and the trailer frame had rusted through in spots where the bolts had corroded years before. The owner called after the second season of looking at it and knowing it wasn't getting fixed. The trailer was the real problem. We couldn't winch the boat onto our rig without risking the frame collapsing halfway through the load. We pulled the mast, dropped the keel at our yard later, and hand-loaded the hull using a spreader bar and soft straps across the bilge. Most of a morning, but the boat came off clean and the trailer stayed where it was. The hull went to the processor in a few days.
