A 14-foot aluminum fishing boat is one job. A 30-foot cabin cruiser is a different one. Length, beam, and weight decide the crew and the equipment.

Wyoming
Twenty years of hauling junk boats out of driveways, marinas, and backyards. Firm quote before the truck rolls.
The most common call I get out of Wyoming is about a boat that came with a house. Nobody in the family wanted the job of dealing with it. The storage bill keeps arriving long after anyone used the boat. Or the motor died, and the repair quote settled the matter fast. By the time I hear about it, the family just wants to get rid of a boat that has sat as a junk boat in the yard for years.
Boat removal is the whole job for my crew, pickup through transport to disposal, done in one visit. Trailer, blocks, storage lot, it does not change how we work. No registration on the boat is not a problem. Details further down this page.
Junk boat on a trailer that rolls, with room for the truck to reach it. From there, four things move the number.
I will tell you which ones apply to yours before we schedule anything.

Driveway on a trailer is the cheapest boat removal there is. On blocks in the backyard takes more work. In a slip, it needs a haul-out. Sunken, it needs recovery.
Engine already out is cheaper. Fuel still aboard, a hull full of rainwater, a trailer that will not roll: each adds handling.
Miles to the processing yard are part of the quote. Boat hauling cost scales with them.
People ask about free junk boat removal. Sometimes the boat has enough going for it, a running outboard, decent aluminum, and we take it for nothing. Sometimes it does not, and there is a fee. We will tell you which one you have.
Twenty years in, nobody has heard a different price at the curb.
Driveways, barns, and storage lots make up nearly every Wyoming pickup, since the state does not give me much water to work around. Long hauls to the processing yard are the norm here, so distance carries real weight in a Wyoming quote. Boat hauling out of a barn or lot takes different work than pulling one off a trailer at a ramp, and I account for that before I quote. Spring de-winterizing keeps me busiest, with fall storage deadlines bringing a second push. The number I give holds all the way through pickup and delivery.

One boat, a whole yard, or an emergency. Old boat removal from a driveway or an estate. Junk boat pickup for the one that never sold. Marinas and boat yards call us to clear a season of abandoned slips in one visit. Insurance adjusters call after storms. My crew has floated sunken boats, hauled sailboats out of backyards, and moved a 40-footer through a neighborhood that was not built for it. One call covers removal, transport, and disposal. If it floats, floated, or was supposed to float, we haul it.
Wyoming does not title boats. Registration runs through the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, which issues a Certificate of Number, defined in the state's own rules as watercraft registration. One wrinkle: registering a motorized boat for the first time, or transferring one, still requires a certificate of title from whatever state or country titled it before Wyoming.
Proof of ownership can be a notarized bill of sale naming the previous owner and buyer with the correct hull number, a dealer bill of sale, or, for a homemade boat, a notarized builder's affidavit. That covers the first 30 days after purchase; permanent registration still needs that outside document, a fee, and proof of tax paid.
We could not find a published statewide removal program for Wyoming. State law only requires an owner to notify the department within 15 days if a motorboat is destroyed or abandoned, surrendering the certificate of number so it can be canceled.
If the boat is not yours. Wyoming has no published procedure that lets a property owner take ownership of a boat someone left behind. What is left is general civil process: track the owner down yourself, and sue for the cost of removal. Most people do not do that for a boat worth less than the lawsuit. We can take it regardless of registration status.

Four options exist here: sell it, donate it, scrap it at a salvage yard, or call in a removal service. In Wyoming, my crew handles that last one, clearing the unwanted boat from a barn or storage lot for good.
What drives the price in Wyoming is laid out in the section above: hull size, whether it sits in a barn, storage lot, or driveway, its condition, and the haul distance, which out here often runs long.
Wyoming's landfills will not accept a hull, and no boat dump takes one either, so it usually ends up at a salvage yard, with a scrap recycler, or handled by a removal service.
Free removal happens when a boat still has something worth scrapping, like a running outboard or solid aluminum, even after years in a barn. Boat removers tell you which case applies, and without that value, a fee applies, detailed in the pricing section above.
Boat junkyards do exist in Wyoming for old hulls, but getting a boat there is the hard part, since most expect it delivered on a trailer, not dragged loose out of storage.
Fiberglass has no home in a Wyoming landfill, so the hull gets cut down into sections and those pieces are trucked to a facility equipped to process it. My crew handles that cutting and the long inland haul.
Wyoming skips titles entirely and runs everything through registration instead. We pick the boat up either way since abandoned boat removal doesn't need paperwork we don't have. Check the legal section above for what Wyoming actually requires of you.
