Melbourne, FL: 26 ft MacGregor 26 Off the Bottom in One Morning

Somebody had left a 26 ft MacGregor 26 sailboat in a marina slip with a mildewed cabin and no rudder, and one wet week later it was sitting with the deck awash and the bow slightly up. The neighboring boats were fine, which made the problem sharper. Our crew arrived to find a hull leaning on its fenders and a marina office that wanted it out before the next boat came in.
The obstacle was space. The slip was tight, with intact boats on both sides and no room to swing a skiff. We worked from the dock, hung lift bags under the hull one side at a time, and held it off the neighbors with fenders until it floated.
This sunken boat recovery ran about three hours from first bag to afloat. We towed it out of the slip and over to the Palm Bay side for the truck. The hull was sound and the rig repairable, so it went to a repair yard, a clean salvage.

Crews cover Brevard County: Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Merritt Island, and Palm Bay. When a boat goes under in Melbourne or anywhere nearby, we schedule the recovery the same week once we have photos and a rough depth. Waiting rarely helps a boat on the bottom, because fuel, oil, and weather keep adding to the work, and a short call with a few pictures is the quickest route onto our calendar.
