Sunken Aft Cabin Cruiser Recovery in Viera West

Leaking windows had wrecked the interior of the 28 ft Carver 28. The headliner hung, the cabin floor was black, and the berths were soaked through. She sat on a mooring, and the stern slowly settled until the bow pointed up.
The obstacle was the aft cabin. It held a lot of water, and the weight sat exactly where she was sinking. We started with lift bags at the stern and drained the cabin through a hatch as she rose. Doing it the other way around would have rolled her. The crew went slowly and kept the bow steady.
When she floated, a short tow took her to the ramp, with the truck headed south to Melbourne. The interior was rotted, and the cost of a refit made no sense, so there was no salvage. She went to our yard for dismantling and recycling. About five hours on site. Sunken boat recovery on a boat that big is mostly patience.
