Fiberglass is the reason boat disposal is a job and not a dump run. Most landfills refuse fiberglass hulls outright, the material does not break down, and a thirty-year-old hull weighs more than anyone expects. The boats on this page are fiberglass: bowriders, cuddy cabins, cruisers with chalky gelcoat and soft transoms.
The process is the same on most of these jobs. Haul the boat, strip what has value, cut the hull into sections, and truck those sections to a facility that actually takes fiberglass. That last step is what separates disposal from dumping, and it is the part people cannot do themselves.
