Raising a 28 ft Carver 28 in Marion Oaks, FL

The 28 ft Carver 28 aft cabin cruiser had windows that leaked until the interior gave up, and one morning its owner found it with the gunwales level with the water at a lake dock. Months of rain had done the slow work, and the dock lines were the only thing keeping it from wandering off while it settled.
The obstacle was reach. The dock was a narrow wooden walkway, so no truck or crane could get close. We floated a work skiff in, set lift bags along the gunwales, and pumped the cabin down while the hull came up evenly. Sodden carpet and cushions went into bags before they could foul anything.
Sunken boat removal like this is mostly patience, about four hours on site. We towed the boat to a ramp on the Ocala side and loaded it there. The hull was past selling, so it went to our yard for dismantling and recycling, and the engine was the one piece worth a salvage.

Crews cover Marion County: Liberty Triangle, Ocala, On Top Of The World, and Silver Springs Shores. When a boat goes under in Marion Oaks or anywhere nearby, we schedule the recovery the same week once we have photos and a rough depth. Most sunken boats do not get better with waiting, since fuel, oil, and weather only add to the job, so a quick call and a few pictures are the fastest way to get a crew on the calendar.
