Sunken Motor Yacht Recovery in Progress Village

This 34 ft Silverton 34 motor yacht spent a decade on the hard under a blue tarp roof, and when she finally went back in the water, she did not stay up. The tarp had held rainwater against the deck all that time.
She slipped under at her berth, deck awash with the bow slightly up. The obstacle was fuel. A 34 footer can carry a lot, and a sheen was already spreading in the slip. We put boom around her before anything else, and drew the diesel off the bottom of the tank with a transfer hose. Only after that did two big lift bags go under the hull.
The job took about eight hours on site. We made the tow to a yard near Brandon, and hauled her. The hull and engines turned out to be better than the topsides, so a repair yard took her for a full restoration. The salvage on this sunken boat recovery was worth it. Recycling the interior was the only part that left our hands.

Crews cover Hillsborough County: Apollo Beach, Bloomingdale, Brandon, and Cheval. A call about a motor yacht on the bottom in Progress Village gets a crew and a work skiff on the schedule that same week. Sinking in a crowded slip calls for a plan that protects the boats on either side. How we lift is chosen at the water, after a look at the hull and a depth check.
