Raising a 24 ft Formula 242 in Mount Dora, FL

Stringers rotted under the cockpit floor of this 24 ft Formula 242 cuddy cabin, and one afternoon the floor simply sagged and let the lake in. By morning the boat was sitting at a lake dock with the gunwales level with the water, still tied up as if nothing had happened.
The obstacle was the dock. Old wooden pilings and a low deck left almost no clearance to work from, and dragging the boat anywhere risked folding the hull on the rotted structure. We floated a skiff in, set lift bags at the gunwales, and raised it in small steps while a pump ran on the cockpit. Slow was the whole plan.
The sunken boat removal took about five hours. We towed the Formula to a ramp near Eustis and loaded it there. With the stringers gone it was past repair, so it went to our yard for dismantling and recycling, and the engine and steering came off for salvage.

Crews cover Lake County: Clermont, Eustis, Four Corners, and Groveland. When a boat goes under in Mount Dora or anywhere nearby, we schedule the recovery the same week once we have photos and a rough depth. Every week a boat sits under water, fuel, oil, and weather make the job bigger, so call early and send a few pictures to get a crew scheduled.
