Palm Harbor, FL: 24 ft Formula 242 Off the Bottom in One Morning

The owner of this 24 ft Formula 242 cuddy cabin found out about the rotted stringers under the cockpit floor the usual way. The cockpit flexed, a drain hose let go, and she settled at her mooring by the stern with the bow pointing up.
The obstacle was the engine. The sterndrive had flooded with salt water and was sitting low, so a rushed lift would have pulled the stern down again. We worked bags under the stern first and held them until the pumps were ahead of the water, then moved forward and brought her level one section at a time. A flooded engine wants fresh water and oil fast, so the crew flushed it at the ramp.
She was up in about four hours. A short tow brought her in, and a trailer carried her toward Dunedin to a repair yard. The hull was good and the engine recoverable, though the stringers will need a full rebuild. That is salvage, not scrap, and a fair outcome for sunken boat removal.

Crews cover Pinellas County: Clearwater, Dunedin, East Lake, and Largo. When a boat goes under in Palm Harbor or any of those towns, we plan the recovery the same week, sort out the depth and access by photo, and get a crew on site as soon as the water and the schedule allow.
