Sunken Cuddy Cabin Recovery in Tarpon Springs

A slow thru-hull leak had worked on the 23 ft Rinker 232 for weeks, and her gelcoat was crazed like a road map. Then a cold snap hit and the bilge float switch failed. In the slip, she settled with the deck awash and the bow up.
The obstacle was the neighbors. Boats on both sides were close enough to touch and nobody wanted a swinging hull. The crew rigged lift bags from the skiff and raised her in small steps, checking the clearance at each one. The owner stood on the dock and watched without saying much.
Once she floated, we moved her to the haul-out in a short tow. The thru-hull was the only real failure, and the engine turned over after a flush. We delivered her to a repair yard near Dunedin. About three hours on site, and salvage here meant a boat back in service. Sunken boat removal is not always about the scrap pile.
