Sunken Aft Cabin Cruiser Recovery in Oakleaf Plantation

Windows leaking until the interior gave up is how this 28 ft Carver 28 aft cabin cruiser was described by its owner, and by the time we reached the mooring, the gunwales were level with the water. The aft cabin was full, and the mooring line was all that held the boat in place.
The obstacle was that fully flooded cabin. We opened the stern door and emptied the cabin first with a trash pump, then set lift bags along the gunwales. Wet foam and carpet were removed before the lift, so the bags did not carry dead weight. The boat rose level in the end.
The sunken boat recovery took about five hours. We towed the Carver to a ramp near Fleming Island and loaded it there. The interior was done, but the hull and engines were sound, so it went to a repair yard, a decent salvage.

Crews cover Clay County: Asbury Lake, Bellair Meadowbrook Terrace, Fleming Island, and Green Cove Springs. When a boat goes under in Oakleaf Plantation or anywhere nearby, we schedule the recovery the same week once we have photos and a rough depth. The longer a boat stays under, the worse it usually gets, with fuel, oil, and storms all adding to the cleanup, which is why one call and a few photos is the best way onto our calendar.
