A 14-foot aluminum fishing boat is one job. A 30-foot cabin cruiser is a different one. Length, beam, and weight decide the crew and the equipment.

Washington
Twenty years of hauling junk boats out of driveways, marinas, and backyards. Firm quote before the truck rolls.
A lot of what I see in Washington starts at the marina. The slip bill outgrows the boat, or a storm leaves damage nobody wants to pay to fix. Sometimes the boat came with an estate, and the family living three states away just wants it handled. Life at the marina gets expensive fast once a boat stops earning its keep, and selling one that does not run takes longer than most people expect.
Junk boat removal is the job my crew built the business around. Pickup, transport, and boat disposal happen in one visit, off a trailer, out of blocks, or straight from the marina. Missing title paperwork does not hold up the job. Details further down this page.
Junk boat on a trailer that rolls, with room for the truck to reach it. From there, four things move the number.
I will tell you which ones apply to yours before we schedule anything.

Driveway on a trailer is the cheapest boat removal there is. On blocks in the backyard takes more work. In a slip, it needs a haul-out. Sunken, it needs recovery.
Engine already out is cheaper. Fuel still aboard, a hull full of rainwater, a trailer that will not roll: each adds handling.
Miles to the processing yard are part of the quote. Boat hauling cost scales with them.
People ask about free junk boat removal. Sometimes the boat has enough going for it, a running outboard, decent aluminum, and we take it for nothing. Sometimes it does not, and there is a fee. We will tell you which one you have.
Twenty years in, nobody has heard a different price at the curb.
Washington is where marina and moorage work outnumbers driveway calls on my schedule. Long hauls to the processing yard are common here, so distance plays a bigger part in a Washington quote than it does in a lot of places I work. Spring de-winterizing is when my phone rings most, and fall storage deadlines bring a second rush before the season turns. I quote the boat hauling job in full before my crew ever loads a boat, and that number does not change once we are on site.

One boat, a whole yard, or an emergency. Old boat removal from a driveway or an estate. Junk boat pickup for the one that never sold. Marinas and boat yards call us to clear a season of abandoned slips in one visit. Insurance adjusters call after storms. My crew has floated sunken boats, hauled sailboats out of backyards, and moved a 40-footer through a neighborhood that was not built for it. One call covers removal, transport, and disposal. If it floats, floated, or was supposed to float, we haul it.
Washington titles and registers boats. Exempt categories include canoes, kayaks, dealer inventory, military and government vessels, and small electric or low-horsepower boats used outside federal waters.
A title transfers with a Vessel Title Application signed by every registered owner, notarized unless signed before a licensing agent. Boats over 35 feet and older than 40 years also need marine insurance of at least $300,000. Without a title, a duplicate costs $30.75, or $80.75 for a Quick Title.
Washington runs the best-funded vessel removal program in the country. The Derelict Vessel Removal Program, through the Department of Natural Resources, has removed over 1,205 vessels since 2002, funded by registration surcharges and fees, and reimburses up to 90% of removal costs to the entity that does the work. Only authorized public entities, meaning the department, ports, cities, and counties, can apply. Residents can also surrender a not-yet-derelict boat for free through the Vessel Turn-In Program.
If the boat is not yours. Washington's program pays well, but only a public entity can apply, not a private property owner. What you can do is document the boat as a junk vessel through a formal affidavit, with a 15-day notice to the last owner. If that does not fit, or the boat sits on dry land, removal is the practical answer.

Sell a boat that still runs, hand it to a donation program, or scrap it at a salvage yard. When none of that works, my crew clears the unwanted boat from your moorage or driveway.
Cost is detailed in the pricing section above, driven by hull size, whether the boat sits in moorage, at a marina, or in a driveway, its condition, and the haul length. Coastal hauls often run long.
Washington owners routing an old hull out of moorage or a marina slip usually land on the same three choices: a salvage yard, a metal recycler, or a removal service, since landfills refuse hulls and no boat dump will take one either.
Sometimes, especially with a working outboard or solid aluminum still on the hull. Boat removers say upfront which case applies, and without that value, a fee applies, spelled out in the pricing section above.
Washington has boat junkyards that will take an old hull off your hands, but getting it there on a trailer is the part most owners cannot manage themselves.
Washington landfills will not touch a fiberglass hull, so it gets cut into sections and those sections are hauled to a facility built to process it. My crew handles that cutting and the coastal haul year-round.
Washington titles and registers its boats, but a missing title alone won't stop a pickup. Either way, we load it, since abandoned boat removal here doesn't hinge on paperwork we're missing. The legal section above lays out exactly what Washington expects from you.
