The storage lot charged by the month, and the Sea Ray had outlasted its own resale value years before the calls started. The owner had bought it planning weekend trips to a reservoir a couple hours south, made maybe four trips total, and then let the storage bill become one of those recurring charges nobody questions until they actually look at the statement. When he finally looked, the math didn't work anymore. Getting a lien-released boat out of a managed lot meant coordinating with the lot office directly rather than the owner walking us in himself, since he lived out of state by then and handled everything by phone.
