Coconut Creek, FL: 24 ft Maxum 2400 SCR Off the Bottom in One Morning

The hull on the 24 ft Maxum 2400 SCR chalked white, with a soft spot at the transom the owner kept meaning to deal with. At a public ramp, the soft spot let go, and she settled by the stern with the bow pointing up.
The obstacle was the transom itself. A failed transom is an open hole, and every bit of lift just pushes more water out through it. So the diver rigged a plywood patch with a foam gasket first. Only then did we set lift bags and bring her up, keeping the stern well supported while the water drained.
Total time on site was about three hours. The hull itself was sound, so the tow ran toward Coral Springs to a repair yard that fits new transoms. The salvage on this Maxum was the engine and drive, and the sunken boat removal cleared the lane for the Saturday launch crowd.
