Hauling a sailboat out of a Fargo driveway

A 27 ft Cal 27 had been sitting on stands in a Fargo driveway for years. The boom was long gone, the mast was corroded at the step, and the fiberglass hull was starting to show its age. The trailer wasn't going anywhere without serious work, and neither was the boat. The owner had stopped thinking about selling it sometime around year three. We showed up on a Tuesday morning with a flatbed and a winch. Getting the boat off those stands and onto the truck was the real puzzle. The stands had settled into the gravel, and the weight distribution meant we couldn't just yank it straight up. We dug out the stands, reset them level, and used a spreader bar to lift without cracking the hull. Under an hour, the boat was loaded and strapped down. We cut the mast down at our yard out in West Fargo, pulled the keel, and sent the hull to the processor. The driveway was empty by that afternoon.
