Sunny Isles Beach, FL: 25 ft O'Day 25 Off the Bottom in One Morning

Keel bolts had been weeping rust down the side of the 25 ft O'Day 25 for a long time. The owner knew. He kept saying he would get to it. Then a heavy storm filled the cockpit, and the sailboat settled at a wooden dock with the deck awash and the bow slightly up.
Access was our obstacle. The dock was narrow and the nearest drive stopped a long way from the water. We could not bring a truck near, so the crew carried the gear in and rigged lift bags from a small skiff. Rust-stained water poured out of the cockpit drains as she rose.
She floated, and we moved her by tow to a ramp across the lake. The keel bolts needed replacing, but the hull and rig were in decent shape. The O'Day went to a repair yard in Homestead rather than the recycler. Five hours on site. Sunken boat removal that ends in a refit is the good version, and the salvage value covered most of the work.

Crews cover Miami-Dade County: Tamiami, Coral Terrace, South Miami Heights, Palmetto Bay, Homestead and Hialeah Gardens. When a boat goes under in Sunny Isles Beach, photos and a rough depth are usually enough to plan the job, and most recoveries here are scheduled within the same week. Our truck carries the bags, the skiff, and the trailer, which spares the owner from calling around for separate help. Pass the pictures along and we will explain what raising the boat requires.
