Hauling a sailboat out of a Harlingen storage lot

A 27 ft Cal 27 had been sitting on stands in a Harlingen backyard for years. The boom was gone, the mast corroded at the step where it meets the hull, and the owner had stopped thinking about it long ago. These boats aren't small, and when a sailboat's been stationary that long, the trailer settles into the ground. We showed up on a Tuesday morning with a flatbed and a plan. The stands had sunk into the yard. We couldn't just roll it onto the trailer. We jacked the hull carefully, set new blocking under it, and broke the trailer free from the soil. Once we got the boat positioned and loaded, we secured the keel and prepped the mast for transport. The whole job ran most of the morning. We hauled it back to our yard in Cameron County, where we pulled the keel and cut the hull down for recycling. The boom we salvaged separately. Done.
