Hauling a cabin cruiser out of a Newark driveway

This was a 24 ft Maxum 2400 SCR, a fiberglass cabin cruiser that had gone chalky white all over the hull, with a soft spot at the transom that told me water had been sitting in that deck core for years. It had been parked on a rusted trailer frame in an Essex County driveway long enough that nobody in the house remembered the last time it left the property. The trailer was the problem. Two of the tires were flat and the frame had rusted through in spots, so towing it out whole wasn't an option without risking it collapsing halfway down the driveway. We worked it out by cribbing up the hull, pulling the trailer free separately, and loading the Maxum straight onto our equipment. The driveway was narrow with a tight angle onto the street, which made positioning the truck the slow part of the job. Most of a morning, start to finish. No title in the drawer, handled per the New Jersey page rules. From there the hull went straight to the processor for cutdown, and the rusted trailer went with it. Most calls out of Newark get scheduled the same week, and I try to run a tight route so nobody's waiting around all day. A lot of these pickups happen during the seasonal shuffle, when a Maxum is coming out of storage or headed back in and the owner just wants it gone before the yard fills up again.
