Nocatee, FL: 26 ft Pearson 26 Off the Bottom in One Morning

A slow leak through deck core gone soft around every stanchion beat the cockpit drains on a 26 ft Pearson 26 over one wet season. The boat settled by the stern with the bow pointing up on its mooring, and a neighbor reported the angle. By the time we arrived, it had not moved in a week.
The obstacle was the water above the keel. A sailboat with a heavy keel needs a lot of lift, and soft decks mean the hull cannot be pulled from the deck. We ran lift bags under the hull at the keel sections and lifted from there. A pump worked the cockpit only once the stern cleared.
It took about five hours, a long morning. We towed the Pearson to a ramp near St Augustine. The deck core was too far gone to justify a repair, so the hull went to our yard for dismantling, a thorough sunken boat removal with the lead keel kept for salvage.

Crews cover St. Johns County: Palm Valley, Fruit Cove, St Augustine, and World Golf Village. When a boat goes under in Nocatee or anywhere nearby, we schedule the recovery the same week once we have photos and a rough depth. Leaving a sunk hull alone seldom pays off, because fuel, oil, and weather keep adding to the work, and the fastest way to get a crew booked is a quick call with some photos.
