Sunken Sailboat Recovery in Poinciana

Leaning on her mooring for a season, the 27 ft Cal 27 had her boom missing and the mast corroded at the step. Heavy rain filled the cockpit, the drains could not keep up, and she went down until the gunwales were level with the water.
The obstacle was the mast. Corroded steel at the step can fail without warning once the hull moves, so the crew lashed it down before anything else. After that, two lift bags under the bilge and a slow dewatering of the cabin did the work at a patient pace.
She floated in about four hours. A tow brought her in to the ramp, and we trucked her toward Haines City to our yard. The step had cracked the deck and the hull was crazed, so she was dismantled and recycled. The winches, keel, and rigging went out as salvage. A routine sunken boat recovery for a boat at the end of its life.

Crews cover Polk County: Fuller Heights, Lakeland Highlands, Haines City, Lakeland, Auburndale, and Winter Haven. When a boat goes under in Poinciana or any of those towns, we plan the recovery the same week, sort out the depth and access by photo, and get a crew on site as soon as the water and the schedule allow.
