Sunken Sailboat Recovery in St Augustine

Every stanchion sat in soft deck core. The 26 ft Pearson 26 sailboat had been taking on rain for as long as anyone could remember, and the slip neighbors had noticed the list.
She went down overnight and was sitting with the deck awash and the bow slightly up when the owner called. The obstacle was the marina office. They wanted her gone before the weekend but would not let us bring a crane on the dock. We agreed to do it all from the water, with the skiff, lift bags, and a line to a lift on the far side.
About four hours on site. The tow ran a short way to the haul-out and then on a trailer toward World Golf Village. The deck was too wet to save, so she went to our yard. The keel and hardware went to salvage, the hull to recycling. That sunken boat recovery was finished well before the office closed.

Crews cover St. Johns County: Palm Valley, World Golf Village, Elkton, and Hastings. Most sailboat recoveries around St Augustine are scheduled within days, so the water does not get worse. A boat that goes down in a packed slip gets a plan built to leave the hulls beside it alone. We pick the method on site once the crew has looked over the boat and measured the depth.
