Sunken Sailboat Recovery in West Vero Corridor

Rust streaks from the keel bolts ran down the 25 ft O'Day 25 like tear tracks. The owner had meant to fix them for years. A hard rain and a clogged cockpit drain did the rest, and the boat settled in its slip with the deck awash and the bow slightly up.
The obstacle was weight. A keel boat comes up differently than a cuddy cabin because the ballast wants to stay put. We set lift bags at the stern first to float the transom, then added a pair forward to bring the bow level, with a hand siphon keeping the cockpit clear. Rushing it would have rolled the hull against the neighbors' pilings.
Time on site was about five hours. The bolts were too far gone to trust, and the owner chose not to rebuild. We made the tow to the ramp at slack tide and drove the hull to our yard past Sebastian for recycling, keeping the winch and cleats for salvage. Sunken boat recovery in a slip like this one is slow steady work.

Crews cover Indian River County: Florida Ridge, Sebastian, Vero Beach, and Vero Beach South. Should a boat end up on the bottom in any of them, the plan comes together within days: photos and the depth first, then a plan, then lift bags and a tow booked once the ramp or dock is clear. Once the crew is on site, the work is normally done inside one day.
