Tamiami, FL: 22 ft Larson 220 Off the Bottom in One Morning

Rainwater had pooled above the deck drain of the 22 ft Larson 220, and nobody looked until the stern started to sink. She was tied to a mooring, settled by the stern with the bow pointing up. The owner was away, so a family friend made the call.
Getting to her was the obstacle. The mooring sat off the bank and the only way out was by water. We loaded the skiff at the nearest ramp, ran out, and rigged lift bags at the gunwales. The crew worked quietly because the bow sat close to another vessel, and we did not want a bump.
When she lifted, we took her on a short tow back to the ramp and loaded her at Country Club. The engine had water in the cylinders, but the hull was solid and the cabin was dry once drained. A local repair yard took the Larson. Three hours on site, and sunken boat recovery here meant salvage of a good hull.
