Sunken Sailboat Recovery in Carrollwood

Portlights crazed, interior stripped by a previous owner: the 27 ft Ericson 27 was already a project before she sank. At a lake dock, the water found a stripped opening and she settled with the deck awash and the bow slightly up.
With the interior gone there was nothing inside to hold air. That meant the hull had to be lifted entirely by bags and could not be floated by pumping alone. We placed four bags along the rails, sealed the open portlights with plywood and foam, and then raised her a little at a time. Without cabin joinery the hull moves more than you expect.
We finished in about three hours. The Ericson is a solid design, so a repair yard toward Tampa took the tow. It was a quick sunken boat recovery with a lot of salvage value in the hull and rig. The dock owner got his slip back before dark.

A boat that sinks in any part of the county, we try to put a diver and a workboat on site inside the same week. Text us photos and an estimated depth and we will explain the work involved and where the hull goes.
