Raising a 26 ft Pearson 26 in Kendall, FL

A 26 ft Pearson 26 sailboat with deck core soft around every stanchion does not take much to sink, and this one proved it. Rain collected around the loose hardware, water worked into the core, and over a few weeks, the boat settled by the stern on her mooring with the bow pointing up.
The obstacle was the mast. A rig that tall makes a lift unstable because a boat can roll the moment she comes level. We eased off the standing rigging, set one bag at the bow and two aft, and raised her slowly while a second line drained the cockpit. The mooring pennant stayed on until she was fully afloat.
She was sound below the waterline, so this salvage was a keeper. A short tow took her to a haul-out ramp, and a truck carried her toward Homestead to a repair yard that could redo the deck core. Four hours on site made it a clean sunken boat recovery.
