Syracuse, NY: 18 ft Renken Gone in One Morning

An 18 ft Renken 180 bowrider showed up in a driveway in Syracuse with a floor that wasn't going to hold anyone's weight anymore. The plywood had gone soft years ago, crumbling at every step, and the trailer tires had dry-rotted so badly they looked like they'd been sitting there since the boat stopped being fun. Someone had parked it and walked away, which is how most of these situations start. Getting it out meant we couldn't just hook and haul. The trailer wasn't road-safe, and moving a fiberglass hull that size in that condition meant it could shift or split if we weren't careful about weight distribution. We brought a second truck and a heavy-duty dolly, loaded the hull onto a reinforced platform, and left the trailer where it sat. The crew worked through most of a morning getting the boat secured for transport, with the access tight enough that we had to back in from Clay and adjust twice to clear the property line. Once we had it, the hull went to the processor in Onondaga County where the fiberglass gets sorted from the core material and routed to the right facilities.
