The Bronx, NY: 22 ft Catalina Gone in One Morning

This 22 ft Catalina 22 had been sitting with its mast down and lashed to the deck for years, fiberglass hull going chalky on a swing-keel trailer with flats on every tire. Nobody in Bronx County was sailing it anywhere. It had just become part of the yard, the kind of boat you stop seeing after a while. The trailer was the whole problem. Flat tires meant it wasn't rolling anywhere on its own, and the swing-keel setup made it heavier and more awkward to balance than a standard bunk trailer. We got air into two tires just enough to walk it to the truck, chained it down, and had it loaded inside of an hour. Access was tight for the route out toward New York City, but nothing we haven't threaded before. No title in the drawer, handled per the New York page rules. Back at our yard, the mast came off first, then the swing keel got pulled since it's the heaviest single piece on a Catalina 22. The hull got cut down and routed to the processor, fiberglass separated out the way it needs to be. Crews cover all of Bronx County: The Bronx and New York City.
