A 22 ft Catalina 22 sailboat came to us with the mast down and lashed to the deck, sitting on a swing-keel trailer that hadn't moved in years. The trailer tires were flat, the keel was seized in the down position, and the whole rig was wedged in a side yard with just enough clearance to get a tow vehicle in if we angled it right. The owner had kept meaning to sell it, then kept meaning to fix it, then kept meaning to deal with it. By the time he called, he'd stopped meaning anything except that it needed to be gone. We brought a heavy recovery rig down from Salt Lake City, got the boat chained down proper, and winched the trailer out onto the street. The flat tires held long enough for a slow pull to the main highway. Once we had it at the yard, we pulled the swing keel out, got the mast unstrapped and laid it flat for transport, and cut the hull down to recyclable pieces.
