Westchase, FL: 26 ft Pearson 26 Off the Bottom in One Morning

Nobody mistook the 26 ft Pearson 26 for a sound boat, with deck core gone soft at every stanchion. It lay on a mooring with its stern settled and the bow pointing up, and the owner found it that way after a week away.
Access was the obstacle. There was no ramp near the mooring, so the only way in was by water, and the only way out was a tow across open water to a launch site. We brought a work skiff, set lift bags under the gunwales, and stripped the sails and loose stanchions first, so weight came off before the hull rose.
The crew spent a full morning on site. The deck had no strength left and no yard would take it as a rebuild. We ran it into Tampa on a flatbed, early enough to miss the rush, and it went to our yard for dismantling and recycling. This sunken boat removal ended with nothing left on the mooring and a clean scar on the water. Only some fittings were kept for salvage.

Crews cover Hillsborough County: University, Fish Hawk, Cheval, Palm River, Clair Mel, Tampa, and Citrus Park. If a boat sinks in any of these towns, the plan comes together within days: a few photos and the water depth get us started, and the lift bags and tow follow as soon as we can reach the water. We usually pack the lift and the load-out into one day.
