Each October the sailboat comes off its mooring and heads to dry storage before the harbor freezes over, and every April it goes back, neither trip possible without a rig built for the hull both ways. A cruiser at the same yard runs the identical loop, same marina, same deadline, same problem finding a truck rated for the job twice a year.
My crew handles the boat hauling with our own trailer, sized for the hull, running it door to door with South Portland and Falmouth on the same route each season. Oversize paperwork is ours before wheels turn. A boat bought without its paperwork sorted can still be moved. Details on the Maine boat transport page.
