Boat Hauling in Big Stone City, SD

Big Stone Lake gave up more than fish that week, including a 20 ft Crestliner that had come loose from its mooring line and drifted against a public dock overnight. Whoever owned it hadn't been seen at the landing in a season or more, and the dock authority wanted the slip clear before the weekend crowd showed up. The hull was intact, engine seized from sitting, and getting a trailer down to the water meant threading a boat ramp still slick from recent rain with barely enough grade for traction. We backed in slow, in low gear the whole way, and had the boat strapped and pulled clear before the ramp got any more crowded. Lake access stayed open the rest of the day.
