Brookhaven, NY: 20 ft Sunbird Corsair Gone in One Morning

This 20 ft Sunbird Corsair 205 sat under a cover that gave out two winters back, and once the snow load caved the frame, water just sat on the cuddy top season after season until the gelcoat chalked and the deck went soft in spots. The owner had left it on its original trailer, and by the time we got the call, both tires had gone flat and dry-rotted into the rims. That's a common way these end up parked for good in Suffolk County, especially on lots without easy road access for a tow truck to swing wide. Flat tires meant we couldn't just hook up and roll. Our crew brought a tow dolly setup to lift the axle enough to get it moving without shredding what was left of the rubber on the pavement. Getting it staged and out toward the Islip route took most of a morning, mostly because of how carefully we had to ease it off a soft patch of ground near the driveway. No title in the drawer, handled per the New York page rules. Once it was on the truck, the Corsair went straight to the processor for breakdown, fiberglass hull separated from hardware and the trailer frame scrapped out on its own. Crews cover all of Suffolk County: Islip, Huntington, Smithtown, Brentwood, West Babylon, Coram. In Brookhaven we get a lot of calls right around the seasonal shuffle, folks pulling a boat out of storage in spring only to realize it's not worth fixing, or hauling one back in the fall that never left the yard. Most jobs get scheduled the same week you call, no long wait for a truck to free up.
