Raising a 25 ft O'Day 25 in Egypt Lake Leto, FL

Rust streaks ran down from the keel bolts of the 25 ft O'Day 25, and the stains had been there for months before the boat went down. Then one night the mooring held and the boat did not.
A weeping keel is what worries a crew. Lift the hull wrong and the keel can drop out on the way up. So we never hung the weight on the bolts. A diver ran slings around the keel stub and a second set around the hull, and we put four lift bags on the hull and two on the keel line. She came up level and slow, in about an hour.
Sunken boat removal on a sailboat runs slower than on a powerboat, and the whole job was most of a morning. The keel was too far gone to bolt back, so the O'Day went through Brandon on a trailer to our yard for dismantling and recycling. We took the rigging for salvage, and the skiff did the tow to the ramp.

Crews cover Hillsborough County: Apollo Beach, Bloomingdale, Brandon, Cheval. A sailboat on a mooring is a boat-and-barge job, so we plan it the day before and raise it the same week. The crew works the Tampa side of the bay and the roads inland, and the keel weight sets which truck we send.
