Sunken Cuddy Cabin Recovery in Fleming Island

Rainwater sat above the deck drain of the 22 ft Larson 220 for weeks, and nobody noticed because the cabin hid it. Then the weight tipped her, and she settled on her mooring with the deck awash and the bow slightly up.
The drain was clogged with leaves, and the cockpit held rain until it overwhelmed the hull. We cleared the drain by hand, then ran pumps off the skiff and drained her slowly while a diver checked the hull for cracks. She floated cleanly, which is rare. The tow to the ramp took a few minutes.
We were done in about two hours. The sunken boat removal was easy because the damage was only water. The Larson was dry inside after she drained, and the engine started, so she was salvaged for the owner and trailered through Green Cove Springs to a repair yard. No recycling line for this one.

Crews cover Clay County: Asbury Lake, Bellair Meadowbrook Terrace, Green Cove Springs, Keystone. Clay County crews work the inland waters and the roads around them. Most boats here come off the water the same week, and the repair-yard run is short. A photo of the deck and the mooring is enough for us to pick a day, and a repair yard can be lined up if the boat earns it.
