Raising a 25 ft O'Day 25 in Fountainebleau, FL

Weeping keel bolts finally let go on the 25 ft O'Day 25, and she settled on her mooring stern-first with the bow pointing up. The owner had known about the rust but never had the money for the haul-out.
The harbor had boat wakes all day, which rocked everything we tried to rig. So we waited until a quiet hour and ran pumps from the skiff while a diver patched the leaking keel stub with a wooden plug and epoxy putty. She floated in about forty minutes. We kept the skiff off her bow and brought her in on short lines.
The job ran about three hours. The sunken boat recovery was quick because the hull had not been damaged. The plug held and the hull was dry. A buyer wanted the project, so she was salvaged and went through Coral Terrace to a repair yard. The tow was gentle.

Crews cover Miami-Dade County: Brownsville, Coral Terrace, Country Club, Country Walk. Miami-Dade crews work the coast and the canals, and the roads that connect them. We plan a mooring raise around the traffic and the wakes, and usually finish it the same week. Send two photos and the mooring type and we set the quiet hour for the lift. The haul inland to a yard is usually under an hour.
