Sunken Cabin Cruiser Recovery in Fruit Cove

A soft transom and peeling bottom paint on the 26 ft Sea Ray 268 Sundancer were the first signs. She sat on a mooring for two seasons, and rain plus a slow leak at the transom finally put her down until just the cabin roof was above the surface.
Access was the catch. The mooring sat a long way from any ramp, so our workboat had to carry the gear out and the lift happened right at the ball. We set lift bags along the gunwales, kept the cabin hatches shut, and brought her up slowly. A soft transom can tear loose under load, so the straps went forward of it.
On site we spent about four hours. The tow ran by water to the ramp and then toward St Augustine, where a repair yard was ready to rebuild the transom. The sunken boat removal left the mooring empty, and the salvage was a clean Sundancer.
