Somebody's uncle bought that Catalina with big plans for the Gulf and never once untied it from the slip after the first season. He got busy, then the motor needed work he kept putting off, and by the time anyone circled back to it the rigging had gone green and the sails were shot. Slip fees kept running the whole time nobody was looking, and eventually the marina office called about the account. Getting a 27-foot sailboat out of a tight slip without a working engine meant we had to walk it out by hand, line by line, against a crosswind that kept pushing the bow into the neighboring boat. Took longer than a normal tow job, but we cleared it without a scratch on either hull. Owner signed the title over at the dock. The boat went to the recycler, mast and rigging stripped separately for scrap metal.
