Raising a 26 ft MacGregor 26 in Gibsonton, FL

The 26 ft MacGregor 26 had a mildewed cabin and no rudder, and her water ballast tank was full of canal. Only the cabin roof showed above the surface beside the seawall.
The ballast tank was the obstacle. A MacGregor carries hundreds of pounds of water in the hull, and it would not come out while she sat on the bottom. So the diver opened the ballast drain, and we ran four lift bags along the hull as the tank emptied. She rose a little at a time as the weight left.
It was most of a morning. Sunken boat removal on a water-ballast boat is about patience. The hull was cracked and the cabin was ruined, so the MacGregor went through Apollo Beach to our yard for dismantling and recycling. The only salvage was the hardware. A small tow got her off the seawall.

Crews cover Hillsborough County: Apollo Beach, Bloomingdale, Brandon, Cheval. Hillsborough crews work the canals and the bayside neighborhoods. A canal job needs a skiff and a trailer, and we raise most boats here the same week. Tell us whether the boat has water ballast and we bring the right gear. The haul to our yard is short and runs mostly on the interstate, so a morning raise rolls out by early afternoon.
