Hauling a sailboat out of a Grapevine yard

A 27 ft Cal 27 sat on wooden stands in a Grapevine driveway for three years. The boom was gone, the mast corroded at the step where it meets the hull. The owner had stopped looking at it after the first season. When he called, the boat hadn't moved in so long the trailer tires had sunk into the soil beneath it. We jacked the hull off the stands and got the trailer free in under an hour. The real work was the weight and the access. Grapevine lots are close, and a 27-footer needs room to swing. We backed a flatbed in from the Irving side and loaded it low, then towed the whole rig to our yard. There, we pulled the keel, dropped the corroded mast, and cut the hull down for recycling.
