Hamilton, OH: 14 ft Jon Boat Gone in One Morning

A 14 ft Jon boat, model 1436, sat in a Butler County yard half full of grass clippings and yard waste, its aluminum hull dented from years of neglect. The boat had no trailer underneath it, which meant we couldn't just tow it out. It was sitting flat on the ground, heavy with water and debris, wedged between a fence and a shed that left maybe three feet of working room on either side. We brought in a come-along winch and a flatbed truck instead of a trailer rig. The crew cleared the yard waste first, then used the winch to drag the hull out toward the street in stages, checking for snags on the fence line as we went. The whole job took most of a morning. Once it was loaded and secured, we hauled it to the metal recycler in Butler County where the aluminum got sorted and the fiberglass went to the appropriate facility.
