Sunken Sailboat Recovery in Jasmine Estates

A cabin that had mildewed over, a rudder that was missing, and a 26 ft MacGregor 26 sailboat sitting deck awash in its slip. That was the picture the marina sent us, and it took a minute to work out why it had sunk so quietly.
MacGregors carry water ballast, and this one had a full tank under the hull. That meant raising a hull that still held a ton of water inside. The crew opened the ballast drain, then ran three pumps to bring the level down before anything lifted. The slip neighbors watched from their decks.
The sunken boat recovery ran a long morning before the boat floated. We eased her out of the slip, moved her with a tow to the ramp, and headed toward New Port Richey. Without a rudder or a sound cabin, the salvage did not add up. She went to our yard for dismantling and recycling.

Crews cover Pasco County: Holiday, Hudson, Land O Lakes, and New Port Richey. Sailboats in slips are usually cleared in the same week, because the marina wants the berth and the weather window is short. Most of our drives run along one main road, so we know the timing to the minute.
