Hauling a sailboat out of a Lexington-Fayette pickup

This 27 ft Catalina 27 had been up on stands for years, standing rigging seized solid and the sails rotted right in the bag. Nobody had touched the winches since whenever it last came off the water. It sat on the far side of a Fayette County property, tucked back where nobody driving past would notice it, which is probably how it went that long without anyone dealing with it. The stands were the problem. Two of them had sunk into the ground at an angle, so the hull was sitting crooked, and we had to jack and reset before we could get straps under her without stressing the fiberglass. Took most of a morning just getting her level and rigged for the lift. There was no title in the drawer, handled per the Kentucky page rules, so that part didn't slow us down at all. Mast came down first, laid out flat for the ride. Once we got her back to the yard, the keel came out on our lift, and the hull went straight to the processor. Nothing about that boat was going back in the water. Crews cover all of Fayette County: Lexington-Fayette and the surrounding neighborhoods out to the county line.
