Hauling a cuddy cabin out of a Miami pickup

This 21 ft Thompson 21 cuddy cabin sat with its outdrive pulled and never put back, the gap in the transom left open to the weather for so long the fiberglass around it had started to stain and soften. Whoever pulled that outdrive probably meant to get back to it. They didn't, and the boat just stayed put on a single axle trailer that had bent under the weight over time, tilting the whole rig a few degrees off level. That lean made the pickup the tricky part. A bent axle doesn't roll straight, so we couldn't just hook up and pull. We jacked the frame level, checked the hubs, and eased it forward in short pulls to keep it tracking instead of dragging sideways. Once it was square behind the truck, the route out toward Doral was simple enough. Most of a morning start to finish, mostly spent getting that trailer under control. No title in the drawer, handled per the Florida page rules. From there the Thompson went straight to the processor, hull and all. Crews cover all of Miami-Dade County: Hialeah, Miami Gardens, Miami Beach, Homestead, Kendall, Doral. Most of the county gets a same-week pickup once we've got your address and photos, no long wait strung out over weeks. A good chunk of our Miami calls come right before or after hurricane season, when folks are moving boats in and out of storage yards and realize the old Thompson isn't making the trip back out.
