Miramar, FL: 26 ft Sea Ray 268 Sundancer Off the Bottom in One Morning

A 26 ft Sea Ray 268 Sundancer with a soft transom and peeling bottom paint was the kind of boat that gives up quietly. It went down at a public ramp, and when we got there only the cabin roof was above the surface. Every trailer launch that week had to work around it.
The obstacle was the soft transom. Lifting from the stern would have torn the transom right off, so we kept the bags forward and amidships and let the water leave through the scuppers. We set lift bags first at the cabin sides, floated the hull slowly, then moved a second set aft once the transom stopped flexing.
The ramp lane was clear in about four hours. We towed the Sundancer to the trailer at the head of the ramp. A transom that soft is a big repair, and the owner decided against it, so the boat went to our yard for dismantling and recycling, a clean sunken boat removal with the drives set aside for salvage.

Crews cover Broward County: Davie, Pembroke Pines, Lauderhill, Sunrise, Tamarac, and Fort Lauderdale. When a boat goes under in Miramar or anywhere nearby, we schedule the recovery the same week once we have photos and a rough depth. Sunk boats tend to get worse the longer they sit, since fuel and oil spread and weather piles on, so call us and send a few pictures to get on the schedule soonest.
