Lake Erie chop had worked the hull loose from its trailer straps long before we ever got the call. The 26 ft Wellcraft had been left at the launch lot after an engine problem cut a trip short, and the owner never made it back out before a stretch of rough weather rocked it hard enough against the bunks to crack a trailer light housing and shift the whole load sideways. By the time we arrived it was sitting crooked, one side low. We had to re-rig the straps from scratch before anything could move, checking the bunks were still square under the hull first. Once it was properly seated the pull itself was routine, straight up the ramp and onto the road within the hour.
