Sunken Pontoon Recovery in Northdale

This 22 ft Sun Tracker Party Barge 22 pontoon had deck boards gone spongy and a rail bent flat, and a heavy afternoon rain on its mooring pushed it under until only the top rail and a bit of the cabin canopy showed. Plenty of weight sat on the deck: wet boards, furniture, and a cooler of old ice.
The obstacle was the load on the deck. A pontoon lifted with weight above the tubes will roll. We took the furniture, cooler, and rotting boards off first, then set lift bags under both tubes at once and raised the platform level. A pump drained the tubes.
Sunken boat recovery for a pontoon rarely takes more than three hours, and this was no different. We towed it to the ramp near Tampa and loaded it. The deck was rotted through and the rail bent, so it went to our yard for dismantling and recycling, with the tubes kept for salvage.

Crews cover Hillsborough County: University, Fish Hawk, Cheval, Palm River, Clair Mel, Tampa, and Citrus Park. When a boat goes under in Northdale or anywhere nearby, we schedule the recovery the same week once we have photos and a rough depth. Sunk boats tend to get worse the longer they sit, because fuel, oil, and weather keep adding to the work, so ringing us with a handful of pictures gets a crew scheduled fastest.
