Raising a 27 ft Chris-Craft Commander 27 in Oakland Park, FL

A fuel smell had ended every sale attempt on this 27 ft Chris-Craft Commander 27 cabin cruiser, and when it went down at a lake dock with the cabin roof just above the surface, the smell was the first concern. The owner had known for years there was a leak somewhere in the tank area.
The obstacle was the fuel. We put sorbent boom around the hull before doing anything else, then pumped the tank into drums through the fill. Once clear, we set lift bags at the gunwales and raised the boat. The water we pumped out went through a filter bag and not back into the lake.
Raising took about six hours with the fuel work. A tow brought the Chris-Craft to a ramp near Tamarac. A leaking tank in an older hull is rarely worth chasing, so it went to our yard for dismantling and recycling, with the engines kept for salvage in this sunken boat recovery.

Crews cover Broward County: Davie, Pembroke Pines, Lauderhill, Sunrise, Tamarac, and Fort Lauderdale. When a boat goes under in Oakland Park or anywhere nearby, we schedule the recovery the same week once we have photos and a rough depth. Waiting almost never helps a boat on the bottom, as leaking fuel, oil, and a change in the weather make the job bigger, so ringing us with a handful of pictures gets a crew scheduled fastest.
